A commitment to closing the leadership insight gap

New advisory board of CEOs and senior leaders will share insights to shape coverage, events and practical tools

Over its 30-plus-year history, CEO Update has built an exceptional reputation as the leading source of news and executive career insights for association leaders. And when I took the helm as president and CEO nearly four years ago, my goals were to preserve that reputation and continue to evolve to meet the needs of the association leadership community.

As part of those efforts, I am pleased to share that we have formed a CEO Update Advisory Board to help craft future offerings for CEO Update members.

The members of this board were selected for their perspective on associations and their experience leading organizations through complex challenges. They are executives we greatly respect and they understand first-hand what it takes to guide associations in uncertain times.

Launching this advisory board is just one aspect of CEO Update’s evolution. Over the coming months, our goal is to become the most impactful platform for C-suite leaders who want access to actionable and practical guidance on leading their associations, highly curated peer advisor networks and resources to develop their top leaders.

Rest assured that we will continue to deliver the latest news, executive openings and compensation data, but we are also creating more insight into how leaders are successfully growing their associations through deeper editorial coverage, targeted executive leadership programming, highly curated C-suite working groups and networks, practical playbooks, and benchmarking data to help you make informed leadership decisions.

The articles and interviews you see in CEO Update and on our website will increasingly focus on the leaders who are strategically growing their associations through a business lens that also acknowledges their focus on membership and mission. We’ll cover what problems they faced, how they made decisions and the concrete steps they took to deliver a successful outcome. We are launching new features that highlight CEO decision-making and our reporters will weave in ideas and action plans that readers can use immediately. Our aim is for you to be able to use our content to lead differently and build a high-performing organization.

And as these changes are implemented, my hope is that you will no longer see CEO Update as just a monthly publication. We are working to become a leadership platform and a community for members of the C-suite and aspiring leaders — a place you turn to for solutions to the real problems you are facing.

The leaders on the advisory board will help ensure that we are giving CEO Update members what they need. We will look to them to help us identify and spotlight association leaders and partners doing noteworthy, innovative work and provide insight into the resources leaders need to move the needle.

We will also be counting on you to provide feedback on our new direction. Reach out to me and members of the CEO Update editorial team and share what would be most meaningful to you as a member. Tell us about the great work that you’re doing, or the success of a friend or colleague in the association space. We want to highlight real stories with actionable outcomes that other leaders can learn from.
