Mandel to step down at engine manufacturers group

The Truck and Engine Manufacturers Association announced Jed Mandel will step down as president of the $8.3M-revenue group, effective Sept. 1. 

“I am grateful for the tireless work of our member companies to find practical, implementable solutions that benefit both the environment and the industry. Together, we have built a reputation defined by credibility, integrity, and collaboration. I look forward to helping usher in a new president and, in the meantime, will continue to advocate for smart, effective policies,” said Mandel in a statement.

Mandel has spent 50 years with EMA, serving as president for the past 25.

Breen to lead can manufacturers group

The Can Manufacturers Institute announced Scott Breen will succeed Robert Budway as president of the $8.3M-revenue group, effective June 9. Budway joined CMI in 1986 and has led since 1995.

“Robert has left an indelible mark on the metal can industry. We are grateful for his leadership and wish him well in retirement. Scott’s policy expertise and his collaborative approach to working on complex issues makes him best suited to guide CMI into the future,” said CMI Chairman Thomas Fischer.

Breen joined CMI as vice president of sustainability in 2019 before being named senior vice president of sustainability last year. Previously, he was associate manager of the Sustainability and Circular Economy Program at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation and an attorney-adviser at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

He has a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and a master’s and doctorate degree from Indiana University.

Dyer named leader of packaging group

AMERIPEN (the American Institute for Packaging and the Environment) announced Lynn Dyer has been appointed executive director of the $1.5M-revenue group. She succeeds Dan Felton, who left in November after nearly five years at the helm to lead the Flexible Packaging Association.

“Lynn’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for AMERIPEN,” said Kelly Smith, president of the AMERIPEN Board of Directors. “Her expertise, strategic vision, and long-standing industry relationships make her the ideal leader to guide our association forward.”

Dyer has spent the past nearly six years at packaging company Pactiv Evergreen (now Novolex), where she served as chief sustainability officer. Previously, she was president of the Foodservice Packaging Institute, where she spent over 20 years.

Staff Departures

TechNet—Carl Holshouser will be leaving his role as executive vice president and head of federal policy of $14M-revenue TechNet after nearly five years with the group. He is joining technology company CoreWeave as vice president for government affairs.

America’s Essential Hospitals—James Swann has joined $16M-revenue AEH as communications director. He previously spent five years at America’s Health Insurance Plans, most recently as director of communications and public affairs.
