Powell to retire from telecommunications group
NCTA—The Internet & Television Association announced Michael Powell is retiring from the $65M-revenue group after leading since 2011.
“Michael has been an unwavering champion for our industry,” said Mark Greatrex, chairman of the NCTA Board of Directors and president of Cox Communications. “He has been our most gifted storyteller, representing us with passion and expertise. His strategic insight and commitment have shaped the cable industry’s most significant achievements, and his leadership will be greatly missed.”
Prior to taking charge at NCTA, Powell was chairman of the Federal Communications Commission.
The board will begin a national search for Powell’s successor.

Zamora to lead academic physical therapy group
The American Council of Academic Physical Therapy announced Celia Zamora has been named executive director of the $1.2M-revenue group.
“(Celia) brings dynamic ideas for leveraging technology to support and connect members of the ACAPT community. Dr. Zamora deeply understands and embraces ACAPT’s mission to champion innovation, inclusion, and inquiry in academic physical therapy,” said Dr. Kimberly Varnado, ACAPT president of the Board of Directors.
Zamora previously spent nearly six years at the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages, most recently as director of professional learning and certification.
She has a bachelor’s degree in English and Japanese studies, as well as a master’s degrees in linguistics from Florida International University. She also has a doctorate degree in Spanish applied linguistics from Georgetown University.

Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America—Mollymae Methany has left her role as director of public affairs at the $483M-revenue PhRMA, where she has spent the past 11 years. She has joined strategic communications company Porter Novelli as vice president of health.

American Bankers Association—Robert Flock, who joined the $151M-revenue ABA in 2022, has been promoted from vice president of strategic engagement to senior vice president of strategic engagement. He previously spent four years at the Credit Union National Association, most recently as director of advocacy.
American Society of Association Executives—Christopher Moore will be joining the 21M-revenue ASAE as chief learning and meetings officer, effective March 24. Moore has spent the past six years at leadership development company ExecOnline, where he was senior vice president. Vetted Solutions assisted in the search.
Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International—Adriana Rivera has joined the $6M-revenue AUVSI as director of government affairs and defense. She previously was military legislative assistant for Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.).
Bank Policy Institute—Scott Frame has joined the $32M-revenue BPI as senior vice president and deputy head of research. Frame previously was chief economist and head of policy at the Structured Finance Association, where he spent nearly two years.
Biotechnology Innovation Organization—Regina Black has joined the $114M-revenue BIO as senior director for international policy and market access. She previously served as senior adviser to former Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack at the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
National Apartment Association—Owen Caine is now the $58M-revenue NAA’s assistant vice president of federal legislative affairs. He has spent the past three years at The Toy Association, where he most recently was vice president of government affairs.
