In response to the emergence of health care advocacy as a distinct profession, one consultant has founded the National Association of Healthcare Advocacy Consultants, which claims to be the first professional association for those working as patient advocates. The association’s first national conference is scheduled for Berkeley, Calif., where the group is based, Nov. 14-15.
