A New York court’s decision dismissed claims of excessive compensation against the former head of the New York Stock Exchange Chief executives everywhere scored a symbolic victory in July with a court ruling that allowed the New York Stock Exchange’s former CEO Richard A. Grasso to keep the $139.5 million he was paid. The case, originally brought forth by former New York Attorney General—and now former Governor—Eliot Spitzer in May 2004, accused Grasso of excessive compensation and not fully revealing the terms of his pay to the NYSE board.
