AVIXA’s purchase of new show was driven by adjacency

For Dave Labuskes, CEO of audio-visual association AVIXA, acquiring the four-year-old trade show Lightapalooza was about adjacencies and community.AVIXA acquired the fast-growing event from the trade consortium Home Technology Specialists of America (HTSA) in April. Created in 2022, Lightapalooza grew from 225 attendees in its first year to more than 1,600 by 2026. But Labuskes stressed that AVIXA doesn’t buy events just for the sake of owning them and profiting.
