Electoral politics behind him, TPaw guides the Roundtable

Once critical of an industry with its ‘snout in the trough,’ former governor Tim Pawlenty settles in as the new CEO of FSR

Back in the summer of 2011, Tim Pawlenty, now the new CEO of the Financial Services Roundtable, ran for president. It was a rather short-lived affair.

He announced in May, then exited in August. “It didn’t last as long as a Kardashian wedding,” is how Pawlenty himself affably describes his campaign.

“My presidential candidacy,” he says, “lasted about 10 minutes.”

But his overall political career was considerably longer. He served two terms as a Republican governor; a decade as a state lawmaker; three years on the city council; and was a short-list vice presidential pick in both 2008 and 2012.
