Johnnie White sensed the board of the American Society of Appraisers wanted its next CEO to take charge and navigate the organization to a more vibrant and visible level. So during his job interview White suggested that board members should step aside if they hired him and let him do just that. Run the organization.
“You (the board) need to stay at the strategic level and let me handle the operations,” White explained during an interview with CEO Update.
They did, and then he did.
White, who joined ASA as CEO on April 15, said the 17-member board “had been so down in the weeds, the organization could not be as efficient as it should be.”
