Putting artificial intelligence to work for your association

New software tools allow groups to design programs that answer common questions or tailor content to individual members

If people have a question for America’s Health Insurance Plans, there is a chance a computer program will provide the answer.

In recent months, AHIP has been experimenting with a free chatbot tool called Chatfuel to answer questions on the association’s Facebook page. A chatbot is a software program that uses simple artificial intelligence to interpret user questions and comments and then produce a reply.  Send an instant message to AHIP via Facebook’s messenger service and chances are the response is automatically generated by the chatbot.

“It has been a really interesting experiment and something we are looking to build out for other campaigns we are working on,” said Jamie Carracher, executive director of digital engagement at AHIP.
