Pandemic spurs twist in restaurant group’s 2018 show deal

National Restaurant Association has taken a majority stake in the company that purchased the association’s show three years ago

It was a novel business arrangement in 2018, and it has taken a singular turn.

The National Restaurant Association, which sold its huge trade show to media, events and industry data company Winsight Holdings three years ago, now has taken a majority interest in the company.

Cancellation of the show for two straight years has left Winsight struggling financially. As part of the original deal, NRA had received a nonvoting minority stake in Winsight.
