When Juanita Duggan joined the National Federation of Independent Business three years ago, she found a 73-year-old organization in need of strengthening its core advocacy mission and refreshing its brand.
“Every time I’ve come into a trade association, I’ve always come from the outside,” said Duggan, who is in her fourth CEO role. “So it’s very different from when someone is promoted from the inside. And one of the best ways to get your arms around that, and to understand the organization, is to do a strategic plan.”
