When it came to developing a policy on COVID-19 vaccines for staff, the American Health Care Association and the National Center for Assisted Living thought beyond its own office to the industry it represents—long-term and post-acute care facilities.

“Our members are working with the people who are most vulnerable to this particular virus: the seniors with underlying health conditions who are living in group settings,” said Rae Anne Davis, AHCA/NCAL’s chief strategic officer and senior vice president of administration. “If one of us took the virus to (a member) and they took it back to a facility, it’s not a risk that we were OK with.”
