As the new chair of Association Forum, Mitchell Dvorak sees a dual mission for his role: increasing diversity at associations and boosting the number of qualified people entering the field.
“The focus of the Forum during my term will be on how to evolve a dialogue for diversity and inclusion and equity,” he said. This matter is both professional and personal for him: “I’m a gay man working in association management,” he said.
Dvorak, who has been executive director of the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons since 2016, stepped up to board chair of the Chicago-based association for association executives April 1.
Dvorak said he will work toward Association Forum’s diversity and inclusion goals through several programs, including the Emerging Leaders Program, the 40 Under 40 Awards, and the Women’s Executive Forum.
