In her first year as CEO of Cruise Lines International Association, Christine Duffy was in deep water. When the Costa Concordia wrecked off the coast of Tuscany, killing 32 people, she surfaced with a high public profile, testifying before both U.S. House and Senate committees.
“That was a very unique experience obviously,” she said. “One of the tips that I got was that it was important to stay very calm and not to debate. It’s really to respond and I was representing the industry and I did my best to stay calm and really just answer the question.”
