Associations of all types were quick to condemn the violent takeover of the U.S. Capitol building by supporters of President Donald Trump on Jan. 6, with one CEO calling for Trump’s possible removal from office.
Dozens of associations weighed in on the incident, which occurred the same day the U.S. Senate convened to count electoral votes and certify Joe Biden as the next president. The protesters were fired up by a rally earlier in the day in which Trump repeated false claims about massive election fraud. Five people, including a U.S. Capitol Police officer, died during or following the riot, according to news reports.
