Association Leaders

Michael Bellaman, Associated Builders and Contractors
When Michael Bellaman became CEO of the Associated Builders and Contractors, he saw the role as a transformational opportunity—for himself and the industry. He’d been involved with the group as a volunteer for nearly two decades when ABC’s longtime chief Kirk Pickerel announced his retirement. Now Bellaman is approaching his one-year anniversary leading ABC. He’s teaming up with other associations like the American Institute of Architects in an effort to increase productivity across the construction sector. He’s also working to harness the collective power of ABC volunteers in a new way to reduce fatalities. It’s the coalition strategy that many associations use when facing political issues, but Bellaman hopes to apply the concept to a different set of challenges.
