Michalisin joins actuaries
William “Bill” Michalisin has been named executive director of the $14M-revenue American Academy of Actuaries, effective Sept. 27. He succeeds Mary Downs, who retired after leading the group for more than 12 years.
Michalisin previously spent more than eight years at the Lake Mary, Fla.-based Institute of Internal Auditors, including six years as EVP and COO. Before that, he worked at Deloitte for nearly 13 years. Michalisin has a master’s degree in strategic communications from Columbia University.
“We look forward to Bill bringing his talents and experience as a proven, results-driven leader in association operations, strategy and member-centric focus to the Academy as we enter an exciting new chapter in the Academy’s critical work to further actuarial professionalism and the development of sound public policy,” Tom Campbell, the group’s president, said in a statement.
The academy has 19,500 professional members.
