State agriculture agencies tap McKinney
Former U.S. Department of Agriculture Undersecretary Ted McKinney will join the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture as CEO, effective Sept. 27. He succeeds Barb Glenn, who led the Arlington, Va.-based group for seven years. She announced earlier this year that she would retire early this fall.
McKinney most recently was undersecretary for trade and foreign agricultural affairs in the Trump administration, traveling more than 430,000 miles between October 2017 and January 2021, according to his LinkedIn profile. Before joining USDA, he was director of the Indiana State Department of Agriculture. His experience also includes nearly 20 years working for Dow AgroSciences (now Corteva Agriscience). McKinney grew up on a family farm in Tipton, Ind. He has a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics from Purdue University.
