Love them or loathe them, inflated or understated—job titles are a critical but sometimes confounding part of the association hierarchy.
Some labels don’t always translate well outside an organization, leaving job seekers and professional contacts perplexed. Does a vice president outrank a director? At some groups yes, at others, no.
