The National Grocers Association has tapped EVP Greg Ferrara as President and CEO to replace the retiring Peter Larkin, effective Sept. 1. Larkin will remain as an adviser through year-end, NGA said in a statement today.

Ferrara currently is chief lobbyist of the Arlington, Va.-based, $7.8 million-revenue NGA and oversees grassroots efforts and relations with state associations.

“As a former independent grocer, Greg’s passion for our industry is second to none and his leadership over the years as NGA’s chief lobbyist, among other roles, has prepared him well to lead this organization into the future,” NGA search committee co-chairs Cheryl Sommer and Mike Stigers said in a statement.
